Target Audience: This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of medical and behavioral health professionals involved in the care of victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.
Educational Objectives:
- Compare and contrast the differences in pediatric vs adult anatomy and its impact on strangulation injury, evaluation, and treatment.
- Demonstrate understanding of the acute and long-term health implications unique to the pediatric/adult patient who has been strangled.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills in the evaluuation of pediatric/adult strangulation through participation in case review.
- Aquire foundational knowledge to provide objective, evidence based testimony in judicial proceedings.
