This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of nurses, physicians, and other health and legal professionals involved in the treatment and care of victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.

- Increase attendee’s knowledge of genital findings in pediatric patients that present with an allegation or disclosure of sexual abuse
- Focus on exam techniques, normal findings, indeterminate findings and abnormal findings

Shalotta Sharp, RN, SANE-A, SANE-P, ADN has been practicing as a forensic nurse for 12 years. She became a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner in 2007 (adult) and earned her pediatric certification in 2008. She has performed over 1100 forensic medical exams on pediatrics, adolescents and adults. She has served as adjunct faculty Mississippi Coalition Against Sexual Assault since 2005, a primary instructor for SANE-A Course since 2010, and Nurse Manager Pediatric Forensic Clinic since 2009. Extensive Instructor Experience provided for Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physicians, Prosecutors, Judges, Law Enforcement, EMS and Advocates, Qualified as medical expert, SANE expert and Strangulation expert in Judicial Proceedings in Circuit Court, Chancery Court and Youth Court of MS, and US Court Martials for the US Military.
